BIOGRAPHY

Internationally known food stylist, John F. Carafoli divides his time between New York City and Cape Cod. He cooks, styles, creates and tests recipes. He also writes and produces feature articles about food for magazines and books and contributes content to various food-related advertisements.

Carafoli is the author of Food Photography and Styling (2003-2006), the first book of its kind and has written two children’s cookbooks, Look Who’s Cooking and The Cookie Cookbook both published by Follett. He also has contributed articles to various publications such as Gastronomica: The Journal of Food and Culture; Bon Appetit; and Better Homes and Gardens.

Carafoli lectures and teaches master classes in cooking and food styling at various institutions, including Boston University’s Seminars in the Culinary Arts, Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, The Institute of Culinary Education (New York), and the University of Wisconsin at Stout. He was the keynote speaker at "Food on Film" in Minneapolis.

Carafoli has presented papers at the Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery (see Cooking with Carafoli) and has been profiled on the TV Food Network Show, "Ultimate Kitchens." He also organized and was co-chair with Lisa Golden Schroeder for The International Conference on Food Photography and Styling: A World View of Business, Techniques and Design at Boston University and they are currently working on the up-coming conference scheduled to take place in 2009.
